SAN RAMON, Calif., August 4, 2020 – Chevron Oronite has achieved an important milestone by receiving one of the first approvals of a tractor hydraulic fluid (THF) additive offering that meets the new ZF TE-ML 05E specification issued by ZF Friedrichshafen AG, a leading manufacturer of transmissions and axles used in a variety of tractors and construction machinery around the world.
“Building on a legacy of over 40 years developing THF technology, OLOA® 9728X delivers on stringent ZF performance requirements and expands our THF product offering to provide enhanced coverage for our customers,” said Koon Eng Goh, vice president, Products and Technology, Chevron Oronite. The new ZF TE-ML 05E specification will replace the ZF TE-ML 05F specification, which is expected to be discontinued in late 2022, and offers double the drain interval of the 05F specification due to the use of Group II base oil as well as better friction durability. The recently introduced specification also includes a new limited slip differential test for measuring noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH).
“Oronite is fully committed to delivering innovative solutions to meet the evolving performance needs of agriculture and construction tractors with common sumps where the fluid lubricates the transmissions, brakes, final drives and hydraulic systems,” stated Jeff Waite, global product line manager, Industrial Engine Oils, Specialties and Fuels, Chevron Oronite. “Our OLOA® 9728X technology, developed with a new approach that led to a patent pending formula, helps maintain excellent noise suppression, robust protection against gear wear, hydraulic pump distress, rust, corrosion and oxidation – all hallmark performance attributes of Oronite’s THF additives.”
In addition to meeting the new ZF TE-ML 05E specification, which is current and verifiable, OLOA® 9728X also meets the John Deere JDM 20 and the latest GIMA specifications. Testing is also underway to support the CNH and Volvo OEM specifications.
