chevron oronite to present at 2023 JSAE/SAE powertrains, energy and lubricants international meeting

SAN RAMON, Calif., August 23, 2023 – Chevron Oronite will give two presentations at 2023 JSAE/SAE Powertrains, Energy and Lubricants International Meeting, which will be held from August 29 – September 01 in Kyoto, Japan at the Kyoto Terrsa. The theme of this year’s meeting is “Technical Challenges for a Carbon Neutral Society by 2050” with the aim of discussing a wide range of trends and the latest technologies intended to realise carbon neutrality.


Hisanori Onouchi, AEO senior formulator, Chevron Oronite will present “Understanding Degradation of Engine Oil Additives and its Effect on Abnormal Combustion in a Gasoline Engine” on Tuesday, August 29 at 5.00pm. Onouchi will share the results from the investigation done by Chevron Oronite on the degradation of zinc dithiophosphates (ZnDTP) and molybdenum dithiocarbamates (MoDTC) in gasoline engine operation and effects of the degradation on low speed pre-ignition performance.


Dr Chung-Hao Kuo, fuels formulator, Chevron Oronite will present “Aftermarket Fuel Additives and their Effects on GDI Injector Performance and Particulate Emissions” on Wednesday, August 30 at 4.45pm. This presentation will show why nitrogen based gasoline detergents are the most effective in reducing injector fouling and also showcase a new formulation developed by Chevron Oronite that targets to reduce injector fouling in GDI engines, that results in higher level of injector cleanliness and reductions in particulate matter emissions.
