chevron oronite announces senior leadership change

SAN RAMON, Calif., March 13, 2023– Colleen Cervantes, currently the president of Chevron Chemicals, will retire on April 3, 2023, after nearly 40 years of service to Chevron. She will be replaced by Mitra Basiri Kashanchi, vice president, Manufacturing and Supply, Chevron Chemicals, effective April 3, 2023.

“Throughout her career, Colleen exhibited strong leadership skills and made significant contributions to Chevron’s success,” said Nigel Hearne, executive vice president, Oil, Products and Gas, Chevron. “She was truly a pioneer in both Chevron and the industry as a woman who influenced the strategic direction of our fuels, lubricants, and additives segments around the globe, and we wish her well in her retirement.”

Kashanchi brings more than 30 years of industry knowledge to her new role as president, with a robust manufacturing background that includes the past two-plus years overseeing Chemicals’ global Manufacturing and Supply operations. She holds a bachelor’s degree in applied chemistry from Iran National University as well as a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and a master’s degree in physical chemistry, both from California State University, Long Beach. Mitra joined Chevron in 1991 and worked in various roles of increasing responsibility at the El Segundo Refinery before moving into leadership positions at refineries in British Columbia and Richmond, California. In 2017, she became the general manager at Chevron’s Salt Lake Refinery, where she oversaw the execution of Chevron’s first cutting edge ISOALKYTM technology.

“Mitra’s selection as president, Chevron Chemicals, will help ensure the continuation of strong leadership in our fuel and lubricant additive business,” added Hearne.
