chevron oronite has obtained the WinGD dual fuel validated NOL on its two MAN energy solutions Cat II products

SAN RAMON, Calif., June 11, 2024 – Chevron Oronite has passed the WinGD Dual Fuel (DF) validated No Objection Letter (NOL) test protocol with two 40 BN marine cylinder oil additive formulations which have previously attained MAN Energy Solutions Category II approval. With the addition of this performance claim, lubricants based on these two 40 BN marine cylinder oil additive formulations are now applicable for all engine types and specifically recommended for WinGD Dual Fuel engines as well as Mark 9 and higher engines from MAN Energy Solutions.

“We are very pleased to add this critical Dual Fuel claim to our high performance products, allowing their continuous use in LNG applications and enabling our customers to benefit from one additive solution for use in all of the latest engine designs from two major 2-stroke marine OEMs”, said Ilse Oelius Smaal, global marine manager, Chevron Oronite.

Developed in Oronite’s marine lubricant research facility in Rotterdam, these additives have gone through rigorous testing, including marine engine testing at the facility before the NOL test was executed in the field on WinGD gas engines. Customers who want to obtain a read across NOL based on these Oronite 40BN additive formulations must contact Chevron Oronite. A full read across NOL can be issued once the WinGD process requirements are met.
